One Month Update on Georgetown in Solidarity with Leslie!

Hey Georgetown Community:

We have really pulled it together and accompanied Leslie as a community through this difficult phase in her life in a moving expression of the Jesuit value of human solidarity. I would like to offer thanks to all of you who contributed to this effort, and especially to an anonymous donor of $5000. In total, we have raised almost $13,000 at this point. I am good friends with Leslie, and thus been lucky enough to watch her pull through this with an incredibly strong spirit, bolstered by the expressions of an equally strong community.

It is crucial for us as members of the Georgetown sphere to recognize the breadth and worth of our entire community, and we have demonstrated an enormous capacity to do so. The men and women who work as staff at this University, in many ways, have come to do all of the things that our parents and family members and home communities did as we grew up: they feed us, they create a welcoming environment, they keep us safe. Meanwhile, they all have families of their own that they are also caring for, and working extremely hard in order to do so. Thus, I hope that we can take from this moving and mobilizing experience the understanding that everyone on campus deserves our support in return, and that we would treat them with as much care and respect as they do us.

Thank you again, everyone!
